In this video I will show how I make a butterfly feeder out of a suet cage. This little DIY butterfly feeder project is about as easy as it gets. And as you will see in the video, it works very well. We saw 5 species of butterflies in a few days. We say Hackberry Emperor butterflies, Tawny Emperor butterflies, Red Admiral butterflies, Comma butterflies, and Viceroy butterflies. We also say a Nessus Sphinx moth. I found that they like the hanger to be in the shade as opposed to being in the sun. We hung ours near our compost pile, so there were already butterflies in the area. That lead to quicker results. If you have no butterflies in the area you hang it in, it might take a few days for them to find it.
