Since Dekay's Brownsnakes, Storeria dekayi are nocturnal, I rarely see them. I've only seen a couple in my lifetime. When I found this one in our yard, I wanted to take the time to at least observe it for a little while before I released it. Since they eat snails and slugs, they are a great snake to have around if you are a gardener. I might not ever see this one again, but it makes me feel good to know that our yard is home to at least one....maybe more. They are a very small snake, comparatively speaking. You will rarely see one that is over 12 inches in length. Like garter snakes, Dekay's Brownsnakes give birth to live young instead of laying eggs. 2 Rattlesnakes and One Garter Snake: /watch/sGCBCFPvqLovB Male Water Snakes Pursuing One Female: /watch/MFrkjLLEQ8REk Things We Use For Nature Watching and More: https://www.amazon.com/shop/midwestgardener Subscribe: /user/heroletters My Gardening Channel: /user/WarLetters ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is not a sponsored video, but I am a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.
