@ethel723 years agoI like this short-style video! It didn't need to be fancy, but still got all the great Bob insight! I would definitely watch more of these, especially for things that might not need a full-length video, like if you get a new color of Joy-Cons or something like that! ...2

@FoxMedik3 years agoThe L3/R3 for the left bumper/trigger are used for most fight game training modes to reset the situation or other actions. its a good layout for a fight pad but the $30 fighting commander is a better deal for what you get, and they're built well enough to deal with being thrown in backpacks and stuff. ...3

@
@thesacredbeast20003 years agoeven as like a fighting game guy i was super confused about the default mapping, also the fact that for the first week-ish after release you couldn't fix the shoulder buttons in the software, like a button could only be either in its default location or swapped with one other button, so it was literally impossible to get to the correct shoulder buttons since that requires two swaps. ...2

@graefx3 years agoI've got the commander 4 for PS3/4 and at least by feel, it's my favorite controller for games where it works. Just wish it was easy to replace parts like a stick. Assuming the software gets some updates in the future, i might have to invest into a retro box set up. ...1

@penguinvader70573 years agoI got this controller for PC and switch fighting games (using a magic ns adapter for switch), it's been working pretty flawlessly for the ones I've tried (blazblue, under night in-birth, skullgirls, dbfz). I love the microswitches on the face buttons, and the layout makes sense for fighting games (and basically every fighting game under the sun is fully rebindable anyway). Only thing is I prefer + shaped dpads over disc ones, but as far as disc dpads go it's a good one. ...

@
@mike195583 years agoWhat’s that gane where you become koopa troopa?
@
@kubev3 years agoYeah, this controller is a huge bummer as long as the app remains so limited. I mean, given how few buttons you can currently remap in the app, it kind of seems pointless to have a button dedicated to switching between four button mapping profiles on the controller. There's an older Fighting Commander available for PC and Xbox One, but HORI for some reason sees fit to make small alterations to each version of the controller between platforms to limit usability. For example, the PlayStation 3/4 version of the Fighting Commander allowed you to make the d-pad mimic either analog stick, while the Xbox version only allowed you to mimic the left stick. However, the Xbox version allowed you to do full button remapping, while the PlayStation version only allowed you to toggle between presets. It's really strange. What really bugs me about the Octa is that it's so dependent on an app that's currently not all that great, and we'll be completely out of luck if the app becomes unavailable (since there's no way to install it with a standalone Win32 installer). ...2
