Published 23 Feb 2023

You can find these services in Southern California at: https://www.sureshinecares.com/ Anywhere outside of Orange and Los Angeles County California, please find a qualified and certified stone restoration professional at: https://sureshineservicenetwork.com/ This talk about stone countertops is just one of the many presentations available for continuing education through the Natural Stone Institute or other accredited organizations. Please note that watching this course does not qualify you for any credits. To earn credits you will need to attend a live event. Live events occur in person and through webinars. Your attendance is logged and your completion certificate indicates that you earned CEU credits for that event. In this presentation, I discuss the behavioral characteristics of natural stone surfaces, their similarities, and differences, the process of taking a counter from quarry to kitchen, care & maintenance, as well as some of the current trends in the business. After the presentation, I talk about Antietch, the marble sealer that everyone is talking about. Antietch is a 10-year warranty protective sealer for marble and other calcium-based surfaces. It makes marble easy to choose for your kitchen counters because those ring marks, drips, dots, and other etches don't happen anymore. I would like to say thank you to Ann Sacks and the fabulous staff in Costa Mesa California and Southern California for hosting this event. I hope to have many more in the future. 00:00 Introduction 03:30 Setting Expectations for our clients 06:10 Knowing your natural stone 07:00 Major Natural Stone Types Used Today 14:00 Natural Stone Comparisons 19:54 Is it marble or quartzite? 20:35 Acid test for quartzite 23:15 Fabrication and Installation of natural stone 29:50 Slab yard safety 34:55 Common stone finishes 40:48 Care and Maintenance of Natural Stone 41:40 Sealers and porous materials 44:29 Types of stone sealers 45:18 Quartzite needs to be sealed thoroughly 46:09 Stone reactivity to acids and etching 46:45 Difference between staining and etching 48:20 What etches marble MTL 49:16 Everyday cleaning products for natural stone 49:50 Natural vs Artificial Stone 50:39 Why quartz and Engineered Stone is not green 52:15 Sustainability 53:15 Design Trends 55:20 Resources in Natural Stone 58:30 CEU course completed - Antietch and how it works
