George Blackmore Plays the Gaumont State Wurlitzer Organ. A BBC Radio 2 Organ Broadcast from 16th of April 1967. Here George Blackmore plays the wonderful Gaumont State Kilburn Wurlitzer. I heard George Blackmore playing live a few times and always admired his playing style and registrations and the kind of music he played. In my view, he was indeed an outstanding organist. Always happy to talk and share his love of organs and music as well. What a pity we no longer have concerts on this fine Kilburn Wurlitzer organ just to walk into that magnificent cinema was just so wonderful and marvel at that building even later on when it became a big club I think I'm right in saying it was, in fact, the biggest bingo club in Europe size-wise! If someone can build me a time machine to go back for an afternoon to hear and see this wonderful Wurlitzer organ and cinema in its heyday, please let me know! Joking aside, I thought George Blackmore played a very well-chosen programme for his Broadcast on this April day some 54 years ago. And as always, beautifully played by him on this fine Wurlitzer Organ. Please note this was recorded on a mono 1960s reel to reel tape recorder off the radio, so the sound quality is maybe not up to our high standards of today.
