Originally published in 1936 in hindi, It was translated into English in 1957 by Jai Ratan and again in 1968 by Gordon C Roadarmel. In 1963 it was made into a hindi film with #Rajkumar, #Kaminikaushal, #mahmood and #shashikala. Much later in 2004, a 27 episode series was made by #Gulzar for #Doordarshan. Although it was adapted into making movie and serial, yet part of it never saw the screen space.
