Most of the time i end up making sponge cake with combination of flavouring agents. Custard cake is one such recipe where i inherited the cake recipe from Chocolate sponge cake and mixed with custard powder flavours. in addition i topped it with almonds and mint leaves toppings thus making a fusion of cake recipes. I have made this cake using whole wheat and no maida, also though i have not used egg in this recipe, the cake has turned up into very soft and spongy. This cake can also be called chocolate sponge cake :) After applying custard mixture over the chocolate cake please keep it in refrigerator for atleast 1 hour for the custard to set.
